For the Love of Collage

I’m thrilled to celebrate the fourth year of hosting an international call for collage art in honor of World Collage Day.

This is the biggest and most complex publication to date, and it came from a simple thought – what do we love about collage?

I asked artists from around the world to create a heart shaped collage that was predominantly RED, ORANGE, YELLOW, GREEN, BLUE, or PURPLE. And, so I present to you a rainbow of collages that show the diversity of style and materials. This year, for the first time, Collage-Lab accepted digital collage and also assemblage (3-D) to add to the diversity of the hearts submitted.

These sixty hearts that I share with you on the following pages are amazing, as is the global collage community.

Why do we love this art form so much? Some of the answers appear throughout the book, as I asked collage artists to share with me what they love about collage.

This book is truly a testament to the deep love of collage that is shared by so many. If you have never collaged before, or if you are just starting out, or if you haven’t collaged in a while, I encourage you to read this book, enjoy the images, and then – PICK UP SOME PAPER and start creating!
